    Take the Poll

This site is all about cruising in J/Boats. Many sailors hear the name J/Boat and instantly think racer. There is another aspect to J/Boats and that's as a performance cruiser. J/Boats has built and builds a number of boats that are classified as cruiser/racers or performance cruisers. Others are racing boats that get used for the summer family cruising trip or converted for long term cruising. The developers of this web site both own J/37s,  a cruising design by J/Boats.  We'll post info on other J/Boat cruising models that others would like to submit.

J/Boats is the marketing and sales company for all J/Boats. They were built by TPI Composites (formerly Tillotson-Pearson, Inc.) TPI has been spilit up and the new manufacturing arm for J/Boats is Pearson Composites, LLC (not much on their web site yet). Some models are also built by J-Composite in France.

J/Boats are designed by Rod Johnstone and his son, Alan Johnstone, with input from his brother Bob, son Jeff, and nephew Jim.  If you want the story of how Johnstone and J/boats began and the evolution of J/Boats designs, check:
